She’s not an Olympic athlete, but Sama Jihad deserves some kind of gold metal. In less than a year, she lost 99 pounds, dropping from nearly 300 pounds to under 200. The 25-year-old El Cajon resident joined Glaze Fitness in the Spring of 2008 and has been challenging herself in boot camps and daily workouts ever since.

Winning the fitness challenge in 2006 was a great beginning to the new life I have...50 pounds lighter. Being able to change the way I look at food, from dieting and denial, to moderation and just making better choices has been the best benefit of all. Additionally, in the past, a consistent exercise program seemed daunting and too difficult to fit into my schedule. However, I've made a choice to continue to improve and maintain my fitness by working out 3 times a week with Jake at Adventure Boot Camp for the past year.

My Boot Camp Experience:

I'm not sure where to start....I signed up for bootcamp September of 2006 and I've been a bootcamp member ever since. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would be up before dawn, exercise in the cold and rain, look like hell, wear no make-up in public, and actually love it!

"I joined the lunchtime workouts with Jake and co-workers from the Grossmont Union High School District over a year ago. It was the best thing I've ever done! I'm completely addicted and would go everyday if I could. I've lost over 5 percent body fat, and feel so much better. My family and friends have noticed a huge difference in the way my shape has changed. Not so much as from losing weight as from turning the fat to muscle and inches lost. I cannot imagine how I would feel if these workouts stopped. We laugh, cry out in pain, complain, and have a really fun time while we workout in our beautiful park.
